Let not inefficiency , inflation and corruption get into 2011

Dear Mr. Singh ,

Last year was the worst year of the decade, and perhaps after independence due to your weak leadership as Prime Minister.

I read today in the newspapers that, the food inflation is in double digits , i feel it is not just double digits , but a double blow for the poor or medium class fixed earners, whose salary does not increase with inflation . Think about daily wage earners that earn 40-60 Rs a day and manage their family of four ( two children and parents , though we know that, poor people have more than two children !!) ? Do you not feel the guilt , that you have caused irreparable damage to the nation, and its people both economically , and its image in the eyes of the world ? Today we are called a scam friendly corrupt nation - a nation of scamsters!!

People have got carried away with your degrees, but seeing your miserable performance , i have realised the difference between being educated , being knowledgeable and being wise . You might be educated , but you are definitely not knowledgeable and not at all wise ! A Prime Minister is expected to be Wise and pro-active on important issues . You have built your good image , but ruined the nation's image !

You and Pranab are fooling the people of this nation by showing 8-9 % GDP growth and a higher forecast . Reality is before us, it is difficult to survive for a common man in today’s time when one cannot get anything done without paying money , when one cannot live within his salary seeing the high price of daily food intake . A big Shame on you both and Sonia !! With such revolting conditions , i am sure you are working for pushing people to take to Naxalism and crime !!

Two days back i was talking to Dr.Murli Manohar Joshi and discussing the current developments , and i told him that, Dr.Joshi you could have proved to be a better PM ! Incidentally , there is only one Dr. in Congress and in BJP. In Congress ,It is yourself , and Dr.Joshi is the Dr. of BJP. I have had a chance to work with him on several issues , and have seen his grasp of real issues facing the nation, and no wonder , even you have been high in praise for his abilities as PAC , Chairman, besides other colleagues in congress . I am sure that he would have proved to be a much better Prime Minister . I cannot comment on others , as i do not know other leaders much .

My humble request Manmohan ji, give Indians a chance to celebrate the new year , Please resign and go ...............we do not want more corruption , more inflation and more GDP !!

We would happily settle for no corruption , low inflation or no inflation and a moderate GDP .

Go now Sir , take rest .Let’s celebrate New Year with a new Hope

Food Inflation - the real issue is of planned production & storage

Pulses – the pulse of the nation : Pre-dominantly , Indians are vegetarians , and so the protein requirements are met through consumption of protein rich - pulses

We have always been worried about high food inflation charging the government for inefficient handling of the prices. Often we quote the high price of pulses . Let’s do a little digging on why pulses cost more when 65 % of our nation is engaged in agriculture ?

Pulses production in India is 12-15 million tonnes , and the requirement is 18-20 million tonnes . Looks like pulses production have never been planned by the ministry of agriculture or the planning commission ; this is when we have celebrated 63 years of independence recently !!

Second issue is that despite poor production , even storage has not been attended to .

FCI- Food Corporation of India has 60.5 million tonnes of food grains ( all kinds of grains & not just pulses ) . This is good enough of quantity to give 21 KG of grain every month to people below BPL . Sadly enough , 30 % of the 60.5 Million tonnes gets wasted every year due to storage conditions

Issue is very simple , and the policy makers need to plan production and storage to address the gaps . Once this is done , we should never have issues related to irrational prices of food grains

High GDP but low GDP per capita - Time to give a public explanation - the Congress and the Opposition

If we see , India’s GDP is growing but the majority of the population is not prospering . Why ??

Let us consider this

The quarterly growth report card shows that Mining and Manufacturing contributed between 18-22 % of the GDP in the Q 1 , 2010 numbers released last week.( Remember mining is concentrated in a few government PSU’s or some mining barons like Reddy’s of Karnataka etc )

Exports are roughly 13 % of the GDP

Agriculture contributes 20 % of the GDP ( Supporting 60 + % of the population )

My view is that, the decline in agriculture & growth in mining can be related directly to the growth of Naxalism , as one creates a naxalites and the other nurtures it !!

Rate of growth of yields per unit area in Agriculture has fallen in:

Food grains from 3.39 % in 1992-93 to 1.39 % in 2001-02

Non-Food grains from 3.19 % to -0.57 %

According to the Economic survey between 1980-81- 2001-02 the capital formation in agriculture has fallen from 3.4 % to 1.3 %

FDI in Agriculture was never encouraged or focussed – Announcements does not matter Dr. Manmohan Singh ji ?

Between 2002-08, population growth has been 1.4 % and the labour force has been growing at 1.9 %


According to the World Bank Development report

Between 1988 to 2008( 20 years ) as a percentage of GDP the :

Agriculture sector decreased from 30.5 % to 17.3 , whereas 65 % of the population depends on agriculture

Industry grew from 26.2 % to 28.8 % ( Population & people employable has been growing faster )

Manufacturing decreased from 16.2 % to 15.1 %

Services increased from 43.4 % to 54.6 % ( Private sector contributed to this )

Household final consumption expenditure decreased from 65.8 % to 54.1 %

Imports of goods and services increased from 7.5 % to 28 %

Yesterday , in the Times of India , the Finance Ministry’s chief Economic Advisor said that GDP growth of 8.9 % in the Q 1 of 2010-11 was due to robust growth in capital goods and consumer good production


Does it not look like some Middle eastern countries , where the GDP is very high but GDP per capita is less, as the high GDP is due to mineral oil wealth , and low GDP per capita is due to the fact that the oil wells are in the hands of a few royal families !! In India , Mining , Exports and trade is in a few hands and the focus , incentive and investment is maximum from the government !! For Agriculture , we all do not depend on the government but on the Rain Gods !!


BJP must act as a responsible opposition . The current state of affairs is not just a failure of the ruling front, but of the entire opposition . Public demands an explanation from both !


What is government doing ? Bhopal Gas tragedy GOM's is just an issue to divert the attention from real burning concerns of the public


Politicians are addressing 90 % urgent matters and 10 % important matters.

Time to act responsibly and explain or else both Congress and the opposition would be dammned in the next election

Growth, Recession & Realities

Dear Blog Readers,

Thanks for your continuous feedback . I am attempting to address the issues that you have talked about .

Over the last few months, i have been reading a lot about inflation , double digit growth and so on....................

We need to understand the real issues a little deeper and better if we wish to do something worthwhile for this nation

Consider the following :

A few decades back , government thought that nationalization was in the best interest of this nation and it nationalised the airlines , banks etc.......Now after a few decades , privatization is considered in the best interest of the nation !!!
The government was cursing the huge population in 80”s and termed it as ‘Population Explosion’ . Now the government is talking of the demographic dividend , because everyone across the world is talking about the same ! We are having the government that does not have original ideas but have copy cat versions or China inspired & induced growth !

What is the government doing to convert ‘No productivity jobs into low productivity jobs and finally into high productivity jobs' Every district should focus on productivity . People do not reason the government and never questions the actions and government even does not know if it is doing the right things .

Look at these facts

Between 2010 and 2020, India will add 120 million people in the ‘working age population’ . It will also add 43 Million senior citizens to its population . Does the government have a concrete plan to address this ?

If we do not plan for 120 million people that we are adding to the working age population , we will be provoking between 10-30 % of them into naxalites or anti-social elements . Imagine , 12-36 million gun wielding naxalites !!

If there is no growth , it does not lead to poverty . It either leads to ill health & evil minds . Which is more disastrous than poverty In the next 10 years , some parts of India will become more developed than they are today. We will become a more materialistic nation in places like Mumbai , Goregaon , Bangalore , Pune etc................. Media would have exposed this ‘Have not’s’ to this material world .

This will lead to aspirations in youth for a better life style, and with no means to make it to this elite league with legitimate means , the criminal route to making money will lead to more extortion , more drug lords and criminals in politics – GDP growth can be 8.5 % or 10 % but criminal activity will growth much faster under such conditions . There is no doubt on this . India will become a naxalite factory and will surpass Pakistan in producing anti-social elements

GDP attributable to agriculture is de-growing , GDP attributable to services and industry is growing . Agriculture not only supports 57 % of the work force & has low productivity per capita but has to feed the 1.2 Billion population else , we know the triple digit inflation that will strike India by 2050.

Agricultural productivity can go up if we bring down the cost of logistics from the current of 16 %. Worldwide , it is around 9 % ............. Government must plan in detail how to boost the agricultural productivity
We are treading a difficult path and the "demographic dividend will become a ‘demographic disaster’ or the ‘Demographic bomb’.


People with many educational degrees ( Indian experts from USA recruited by the government as advisors ) are working for people with no degrees (poor population ) . So they do not identify the real problem leave alone addressing the issues . Recently , i have heard about the food coupons being distributed to the BPL families . What a joke ? BPL people do not know how to read and write & also this is bound to be misused ( 10 paisa of every 10 rupees will reach the BPL families )

Few fundamentals have to change .

India has not to change , Indians have to change .

Made in India has to become made in ‘rural India’

We are talking of CSR ( Corporate Social Responsibility ) but what we need is ISR –(Individual’s Social Responsibility )


We are all talking of divestment . The government is looking to raise Rs.40,000.00 crore through divestment but why is government not looking at investing back 10 % of the divestment money to build another PSU that can yield returns disproportionate on its investments ? How about setting up the Solar Energy Corporation of India or the Hydro Power corporation of India ? Build them now . Don’t just sell

Governments tax collection targets have been missed by around Rs. 40000 crore, i am sure that divestment target is also going to be missed !! Where will be the GDP deficit be in 2011-12 ?

Indian government has not just to create jobs ( employment ) but also create entrepreneurs . It has to think inside the box only ( forget out of box ). Imagine , if different cities with tourism potential start training tourist guides , taxi drivers and listing them on a central website . People travelling to these towns can avail the services of the government approved guides at the pre-decided rates & can pay in advance through the website . The money can be transferred electronically directly to the service provider after a referral cut ( government can retail 20 % & transfer 80 % money). Safety & savings for tourists and income for self employed people .

Back to my favourite recession & India :

Why did recession in the USA / Europe not affect India so much Or you all believed that government was able to protect India from recession effectively ? Think about this report

Times of India , 17th March 2010. According to the WHO - UNICEF report ,58 % of all the people in the world who defecate in the open are in India . 638 Million people in India have no access to toilets . Will India, with such living conditions ever get effected by recession ? The same government could not control inflation . Imagine how they can control affects of recession – they faked the efforts and impacts and we all believed it like fools !

In 62 years after Independence , we have more than 60 % population having no access to ( toilets ) hygiene , 2/3rd of the population living in absolute poverty , 1/6th of the nation living in naxalites controlled areas . And we are already a “recession proof” India . Entire India has still not felt the impact of growth except a few urban towns , so recession hitting us is a joke ?

By the way , next few days will show India conquering the world as ‘ BHARTI is acquiring an African Telecom Giant’. Read all the headlines ................................

While you read these headlines , more than 50 % of India will go to sleep without a meal .............................

And also, according to the government , the austerity drive for Indian government is over & our babu’s and politico’s can fly business class, so finally , India is out of recession & in a high growth phase

Education or Food should be the fundamental right ? Rajendra Pratap Gupta

India’s constitution was based on constitutions of foreign countries ---------------------------No wonder !!

The six fundamental rights enshrined in our CONSTITUTION are:

1. Right to equality
2. Right to freedom
3. Right against exploitation
4. Right to freedom of religion
5. Cultural and educational rights
6. Right to constitutional remedies


The constitution makers of India borrowed various ideas from constitution of various countries . No wonder Food , Clothing & Healthcare was never mentioned in the Fundamental rights . Perhaps the countries from where our constitution was cut , copied and pasted had abundant resources to ignore food , clothing and healthcare but our ‘Wise Architects’ of the constitution did not look at the local conditions and need and were more academically inclined to write a document then to go and see the realities and then draft the most important document for the nation .

More shocking is that , even today , our Hon’ble Prime Minister had / has advisors like Sam Pitroda , Raghuram Rajan and more recently Mr.Kaushik Basu again from Cornell University has been appointed as the Chief Economic Advisor. We have our own ‘foreign educated’ Kapil Sibal, who wants to waive exams for class tenth but wants to make Education a fundamental right !

Think, that Food is still not the fundamental right and millions of children die before they reach the age of five . Do we not have misplaced priorities ? With such thinkers having access to power to change the nation . Where are they going to take us ?

India needs four things on priority . Food , water , electricity & healthcare. Without providing these four basics , nation can never clock any substantial growth in GDP or raise people above the poverty line

We will keep raising the divide between ‘Empty’ & ‘Plenty’

50 years of Congress Misrule : Decline of India as a super power - Rajendra Pratap Gupta

Congress has ruled this nation for more than fifty years. Let’s examine what it did to this nation ?

In the last fifty years , the congress leaders have contributed immensely to deteriorating the economy and suppressing the rights of the common man by denying him the right education and running the economy on the ‘Self serving’ license raj. It was only in the 1990’s that the congress policies led India towards Bankruptcy, and under the instructions of the World Bank , Congress had to liberalise the economy.  We should not forget that as a single party running the nation for more than 50 years, it did not let the common man to get proper education , as ‘The Common Man’ would have protested for change, and this, the shrewd leaders in congress never wanted . BJP was the first government that started the “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan” to bring about the change ! Population under the congress misrule has just remained a mere statistics and a vote bank to be used during elections and abused thereafter. Let us also not forget that , congress due to its ‘Single family rule’ got divided into many parts and no one knows which is the original congress and still they talk of unity ? There is a Congress (i) , Congress Nationalist Party  etc . Congress has followed only one game in the name of government , prepare the nation to take on the next Gandhi inheritor no matter what . Respect for talent and merit has never been a norm in the congress party . The party that cannot practice democracy at home , how can it practice Democracy in the party, leave alone democracy in the nation.  Respect for democracy and talent in congress is a cruel joke . Congress is nothing but the rule of Gandhi family .

A Failed Judiciary :

 

On Feb 6, 2009, the Supreme court said that , the Criminal justice system has collapsed – Making the chilling observation, which to many only confirmed the widely held perception of the erosion of the system, a Bench comprising Justices B N Agrawal, G S Singhvi and Aftab Alam also said that the lower judiciary had decayed. "The courts of magistrate and munsif have ceased to be an option for the common man," the Bench said and compared the lower courts to ill-equipped and ill-staffed public health centres (PHCs) in rural areas.

Only those people go there who have no other option," said the Bench as an apparent indicator of the low measure of public faith in these courts, which are the first points of dispute settlement for the masses.

While the last Election manifesto of congress in 2004 quoted ‘  Immediate measures will be taken to drastically cut the delays in courts, particularly in the high courts and in lower levels of the judiciary’.

 

Central Bureau of Investigations : “Only God can save the situation”.

 

On Tuesday 11^th Feb , 2009, the Supreme Court  said the CBI was acting at the behest of the law ministry while investigating the disproportionate assets case against SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members. An exasperated Bench said, “Only God can save the situation”.

“You are acting at the behest of the law ministry. You are not acting on your own,” said the bench comprising Justice Altamas Kabir and Justice Cyriac Joseph ‘

 

Ironically, the last election manifesto of congress quoted ‘ An administrative reforms commission will be established to prepare a detailed blueprint for revamping the public administration  system completely so as to make it more performance oriented and accountable’.

 

Divided Election Commission : Fading hopes !!

 

The Chief Election Commissioner's recommendation for removal of Election Commissioner , Navin Chawla ahead of the general elections brings to the fore the differences among the three-member body which has often been marred by clashes over crucial decisions. This is the second pillar after the Judiciary that safe guards the democracy . Under the current Congress rule ,The Election commissions decisions cannot be trusted anymore . Apparently , looks like, that the system has lost its credibility . Whereas , the Election Manifesto of Congress quoted ‘ Congress is deeply committed to electoral reforms’.

 

 Congress is not in favour of Aam Aadmi  ??? Poor accountability on spending :

 

The CAG( Comptroller and auditor general )  report released on 20^th February 2009 said that the centre’s Aam Aaadmi Bill was highly inflated. According to CAG, the funds meant for social and infrastructure development were diverted to celebrations and giving aid to NGO’s and other expenditure rather than creating infrastructure .

 

Remember Rajiv Gandhi saying , out of every rupee meant for the poor only fifteen paisa reaches the common man. This is what the leader of party said , whose family ruled this nation as its fiefdom since the very independence !

 

Congress has failed to act against terrorism – We are living at the mercy of the terrorists.

 

The less we talk the better. This government has failed utterly against terror . We had all kinds of attacks at all the places – Air , Land & Sea. It is not just Kashmir , it is all across . We are totally at the mercy of the terrorists . Congress has let the nation down badly.

 

Financially , our economy is at its worst :

 

The fiscal deficit for 2009 would be in around 11 % .  The Fiscal deficit budgeted at 2.5 % of the GDP this year , will end up at 6 % , to which should be added another 1.5 % of the GDP for the off-budget items like dues on oil and fertilizers companies . Throw in another 3.5 % of GDP of state government deficits , and India will have a consolidated fiscal deficit of 11 % in 2008-9. Remember, during the BJP led NDA , Revenue deficit never crossed 4.5 %.  Congress took over from BJP, an Indian Economy growing at 8 % every year and after five years. We are just a step away from being rated as a ‘Junk status’ under the congress policies and misrule.

 

Congress regime has seem unchecked inflation . Even we are not sure whether the low inflation numbers we see today are correct or cooked up . Economy is sliding day by day.  Companies are getting into voluntary shut downs, expected job losses till March 09 are expected to cross one crore.  Last Election manifesto of Congress reiterated “its firm commitment to eliminating the revenue deficit of the central government in five years time” & actually gave India the worst ever revenue deficit since its independence .   According to S&P’s ( Standard & Poor’s ratings ) , India’s fiscal position is unsustainable in the middle term, reduced the outlook on long term debt from stable to negative for four government entities , and , in turn, the UPA government .  In the 3^rd Week of Feb’ 09, even Fitch ratings  had called India’s finances in to question. 

 

Urban Poverty :

 

According to the 'India: Urban Poverty Report, 2009',The poverty in cities is not an overflow of the poverty in villages but has happened because of the faulty nature of urbanisation in India, says the country's first report on Urban Poverty released today. According to the study, an estimated 23.7 per cent of the urban population was living in slums amid squalor, crime, disease and tension, but not all slum dwellers exist below the poverty line.

They have been marginalised because of the poor city planning and poorer urban land management and legislation.

The urban poverty was not about only nutritional deficiency but deficiencies in the basic needs of housing, water, sanitation, medical care, education, and opportunity for income generation. As many 81 million or 25.7 per cent people(2004-05) subsist in urban areas on incomes that are below the poverty line. Eighty per cent of their meagre income goes towards paying for food and energy, leaving very little for meeting the cost of living in an increasingly monetised society

Congress Election Manifesto of 2004 quoted ‘ The Congress is conscious of the havoc that corruption at all levels adds to the harassment of the common man’.

In fact, fifty years of Congress misrule is a naked , sordid & ruthless saga of Gareebi , Bhrashtachaar and Aantakwaad and not the Roti , Kapda aur Makaan that has just remained a slogan after 50 years of rule. Congress is all words and no substance !

Overall , Congress led UPA is a failure on all fronts.  Giving it even five hours is against the interest of the nation and the common man . All including , wise men in Congress will agree to this along with the fact that, Congress only talks of sacrifices by the Gandhi family and does not even acknowledge that others have also contributed to this nation. Is it that except the Gandhi family, no one has sacrificed in Congress ? The last manifesto of congress read ‘ It is the congress leaders like Gandhi ji, Indiraji and Rajive ji who have sacrificed their lives in the services of the country’ . 

Fifty years of misrule has certainly achieved one thing; ethics has been eroded in politics and no one trusts a politician. BJP is committed to change this by you participating actively in bringing about this change and creating an India for the common man

This chart proves that India was a world leader in trade after China with 22.54 % of the world GDP.  East India company changed the global equations and reduced it to 12.25 % . Congress did the rest . Today , we are less than 2 % .

Worst for the economy is over – Senior Congress Minister – Fooling Indians to vote ???

On 28^th December 2008, I had written on this blog, that the GDP growth will be less than 6 % , I had also given the reasons as to why it would fall below 6 % for sure, when the government was firm that GDP growth would be 7.1 %. The fact is out now , and our GDP has grown as low as 5.3 % in the Q3, 2008.

We will have lacs of suicides from job losers ! Earlier it was the farmers , now it will corporate people and workers who will commit suicides or commit crimes or suffer a nervous break-down. Why are we sleeping now . We just have 45 days – Please check the congress score card on my blog , They are a bunch of inefficient & dishonest people ! Can we entrust them our nation ?

As per the latest data ,

· India had an external debt of $221.3 Bn at the end of June 2008, 20 % of it is the short term debt, this will be hurt badly due to weak rupee .

· NRI deposits declined by as much as 1.1 Bn USD at the end of June 2008 compared to end – March 08 level.

· India’s foreign exchange reserves declined by 62.35 Billion dollars to 249.53 Bn USD as on Feb 20, 2008 from 311.88 Billion as on April 4, 2008.

· Agriculture is reporting negative growth at -2.2 % in Q3 , 2008,

· Exports have plummeted and people in export oriented companies are being fired every minute

· Industrial production is at a record low

· Fiscal deficit is highest since independence

· Sensex is at a record low in the last 40 months , Investors have lost more than 2/3^rd of their investments

· Real estate sector is facing worst crisis ever

· GDP fell to 5.3 % in Q3 , 2008

· Rupee is weakest at about Rs.52 to a dollar

· Tax collections and revenue earners for government are dipping every day due to the above mentioned factors

Is what we call an economy of strong fundamentals ? When US , Europe and Japan sank into recession, immediately our growth story withered away, and we had been fooled to believe that India had strong fundamentals and we will not be affected . Is this not severe recession ?

At the top of all this , our learned writer of the book ‘India’s Century’ & also our Union trade and commerce Minister , Kamalnath had said just 3 days ago, that the ‘Worst time for the economy is over’. And just three days after the rupee is about 52 to the dollar and the sensex is on its 40 months low !! How clueless is our Union Minister ? Do we give such people to run our trade and commerce for the next five years ? If his words cannot last even a week , how come he writes a book on India’s century ?

We are into an unprecedented crisis , if we let congress win , I am sure that some of us will not even survive to vote !!
